WHAT ARE WRINKLE RELAXERS (Neuromodulators)
Are you starting to notice deep creases appearing between your brows, on the corner of your eyes, or across your forehead? In the medical aesthetics world, we call these “dynamic” wrinkles. These are wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive facial movements, like smiling, frowning, or raising your eyebrows. They’re a normal result of aging, but their appearance can be intensified by lifestyle factors (such as smoking, stress, dietary habits, or lack of sleep) or increased sun exposure. Looking for a way to minimize the appearance of these wrinkles? A quick and easy treatment like wrinkle relaxers could be an option. Brands such as Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Nuceiva® are neuromodulators that are injected into the facial muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines. The ingredients in these products block the signal between nerve and muscle, thereby reducing its ability to contract and form wrinkles, creating a refreshed or relaxed appearance Beyond their aesthetic purpose, wrinkle relaxers are also used to block the signal between nerve and muscle, which is why they’re an option for relief from easing muscle spasms. Time to find out if these treatments are right for you.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY TREATMENT?
No scalpel, no laser. Your Victoria Park Medispa expert uses a fine-gauge needle for precise wrinkle-targeting. Given that pain is minimal, neuromodulators are, for the most part, administered without topical anesthetic. If you’re sensitive and prefer to have a numbing cream applied, speak to your Victoria Park Medispa expert beforehand. Your nurse injector will map out the injection site using a white eyeliner pencil, ensuring precision. Depending on your anatomy and desired outcome, your expert will inject a small amount of product into the targeted region.
Treatment usually only takes about ten to twenty minutes. Our Victoria Park Medispa technicians are very careful when it comes to applying any aesthetic injectable, to ensure a natural-looking and revitalized result.
The majority of our patients can safely resume normal, day-to-day activities immediately following their treatment. Keep in mind, we suggest that you refrain from touching the treatment area for about 24 hours. For these types of injectables, full results can take up to two weeks to appear—so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see a drastic change as you leave our clinic.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
A consultation at Victoria Park Medispa is complimentary. During this visit you will meet with our highly trained staff, they will perform a complete review of your age, facial structure, skin type and the improvements you would like to see. They will then walk you through the various options that could have the greatest benefit for you, review before and after photos, and develop a treatment program together.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WRINKLE RELAXERS LIKE BOTOX, DYSPORT, AND NUCEIVA?
Dysport® and Nuceiva® are often compared to Botox® Cosmetic as these products all have similar properties. They form a category of aesthetic injectables all known as muscles relaxers. They are injected into the facial muscles that are responsible for wrinkles and fine lines and relax those muscles. Their ingredients, known as neuromodulators, block the signal between nerve and muscle, thereby reducing its ability to contract and form wrinkles.
Our highly trained nurse injectors will review the product that best suits your requirements and sometimes will apply different product to different areas of the face for optimal result
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DERMAL FILLERS AND WRINKLE RELAXERS?
Over time, the muscles above and between your eyebrows repeatedly contract, causing wrinkles to form. Wrinkle relaxers are generally injected around these muscles. They relax the muscle for a period of four to six months so that the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced, creating a refreshed or relaxed appearance. The leading brands in this category include wrinkle relaxers like Botox®, Dysport®, and Nuceiva®.
Dermal fillers replace volume and structure lost through the aging process. The leading brands in this category include Juvederm®, Sculptra®, Belotero®, and Radiesse®. Dermal fillers are generally used to replace volume in lips and reduce the appearance of deep folds and lost volume in the face.
Wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers are often used in combination in different areas for an optimal result. Our highly trained nurse injectors are very careful in the application of these products to avoid a frozen look or an overly treated look which can be the result of their use in the wrong hands.
